The Hagrid Family
Hagrid, Mr. Hagrid, Mr.
Mr. Hagrid had a son, Rubeus, with the giantess Fridwulfa. His half-giant son got so large that by the time Rubeus was six, he could pick his father up. Unfortunately, Mr. Hagrid died when Rubeus was in his second year of school.

Hagrid, Rubeus Hagrid, Rubeus
Born:December 6, 1928
Rubeus Hagrid is the son of a wizard and a giantess, Fridwulfa. Being a half-giant makes him twice as tall and five times as wide as a normal person. He has long tangles of bushy black hair and beard and eyes like black beetles. His hands are the size of trash can lids, and his feet are like baby dolphins. He wears a black moleskin overcoat, and his best suit is a horrible hairy brown suit and a checked yellow and orange tie. His mother left him when he was about three. When he was six, he could pick up his dad and put him on a dresser. His father died in his 2nd year at school.

Hagrid has always had a tendency to find extremely dangerous creatures extremely loveable. He is big and blundering and gets in trouble every other week. While he was in school, he supposedly tried to raise werewolf cubs (baby Remuses?) under his bed and would sneak off to the Forbidden Forest to wrestle trolls. In his third year, he brought a young acromantula, Aragog, into the castle. Tom Riddle framed Hagrid by turning him in and calling the large spider the monster of the Chamber of Secrets. Albus Dumbledore did not believe Hagrid was guilty, so he convinced them not to throw Hagrid into Azkaban. He also let Hagrid stay at Hogwarts and train as gamekeeper after he was expelled. However, Hagrid’s wand (16 inches, oak, rather bendy) had been snapped, and he carries a battered, flowery pink umbrella with his wand pieces inside so he can do magic on the sly.

So Hagrid has been at Hogwarts ever since as the Keeper of Keys and Grounds. He lives in a small wooden house on the edge of the Forbidden Forest with his pet boarhound, Fang. He was the one who recovered Harry Potter from the ruins of his parents’ house after Voldemort tried to kill him in 1981. While Hagrid was there, Sirius Black, the Potters’ best friend, showed up and offered Hagrid his flying motorcycle to deliver Harry to Dumbledore quicker. Ten years later, he was sent to retrieve Harry again when it became clear that Harry’s Hogwarts acceptance letters were not being read. Hagrid was enraged to discover that Harry’s Muggle relatives had not told him about magic. He took it upon himself to take Harry to get his school stuff from Diagon Alley and even got him an owl for his birthday. He would become good friends with Harry and his friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

That year, Hagrid contributed a huge 3-headed dog, Fluffy, to protect the Sorcerer’s/Philosopher’s Stone. However, he would give the secret to taming it away while gambling for a dragon’s egg. Since he couldn’t keep the dragon, Norbert, at Hogwarts, he was forced to send it away to Romania. In ’92, the Chamber of Secrets was opened again and Hagrid, being the supposed culprit the first time, was sent to Azkaban until he was proved innocent. The following school year, Hagrid became the Care of Magical Creatures teacher. He enjoys showing his classes dangerous creatures that he finds interesting but the students find terrifying. He got in trouble when a student, Draco Malfoy, did not pay attention and insulted a hippogriff, which then attacked him. To Hagrid’s horror, the hippogriff, Buckbeak, was sentenced to death but luckily escaped. In ’94, Hagrid met another half-giant, Olympe Maxime; they got together after she finally stopped denying her giant heritage. Hagrid got a lot of grief because of his lineage and lack of education when Hogwarts got a High Inquisitor, Dolores Umbridge. Umbridge tried to send Hagrid away, but he fought off the Aurors she brought and went into hiding in the mountains.

Hagrid is a member of the Order of the Phoenix. He was sent on a mission with Madame Maxime to establish diplomatic ties with the giants in the name of the Order. The mission was unsuccessful when Death Eaters showed up for some diplomacies of their own. While there he met his half-brother, Grawp. Fearing the bigger giants were bullying him, Hagrid was determined to bring Grawp home with him to be safe and eventually domesticated, prolonging his journey for two months. Hagrid arrived back at Hogwarts bruised and bloodied, and continued so during his futile endeavors. Grawp did at least showed he that knew who Hagrid was by the end of a year.

Grawp Grawp
Grawp is a son of the giantess Fridwulfa. His head looks like a mossy boulder (larger in proportion than the human head) and is almost perfectly round. He has tight, curling, close-growing, and bracken colored hair and small muddy-greenish brown eyes. He also has large, fleshy ears, no neck and a broad back. His nose is stubby and shapeless, and his lopsided mouth is full of yellow, misshapen teeth the size of half-bricks. He has enormous, filthy feet and hands the size of beach umbrellas. He wears a badly sewn animal skin frock. Despite his size, he has surprising speed and agility.

His half-brother, Hagrid, met him on a mission for the Order of the Phoenix and brought him back to Hogwarts. Grawp is smallish and was supposedly bullied by the other giants. His mother did not like him because he was runty, only 16 feet tall. Still, he is a giant and is strong enough to rip trees out of the ground for fun. He sometimes attacks Hagrid when he’s in a bad mood, so he needs to be kept tied up all the time. Grawp eats birds and deer. Hagrid seemed to make slight headway in domesticating him, because Grawp started missing Hagrid when he was gone and chased a herd of centaurs off from harming Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, whom he had recognized as Hagrid’s friends.
