The Snape Family
Snape, Eileen (Prince) Snape, Eileen (Prince)
Eileen Prince was not a pretty girl. She was cross and sullen and had heavy brows and a long, pallid face. Eileen was the Captain of the Hogwarts Gobstone Team. She then married Tobias Snape, a Muggle. They had a son, Severus.

Snape, Severus Snape, Severus
Born:January 9, 1958?

Severus Snape is the son of witch Eileen Prince and Muggle Tobias Snape. He was raised in a negative environment where his father yelled at his mother. He was scrawny and once laughed at for attempting to mount a bucking broom. He would kill flies with magic. As a teenager, he was stringy, pallid, and had long, greasy hair. He inherited his hooked-nose from his father. Round shouldered but angular, he walked much like a spider. He had always been fascinated by the Dark Arts. He knew more curses when he arrived at school than half the 7th years. Snape was part of a gang of Slytherins who all turned out to be Death Eaters: Rosier, Wilkes, the Lestranges and Avery. Trying to put a polish on his parentage, Snape took on the name ‘Half-Blood Prince’ after his pure-blood mother. He always had a flair for potions and dabbled in his own dark spells. He would take notes all over his potions book. In school, Snape had a mutual hatred with James Potter and Sirius Black. Black once endangered Snape’s life by pointing him in the direction of a werewolf. Potter stopped him from going on and so, much to Snape’s disgust, he felt in debt.

Considering his obsession with the Dark Arts, Snape naturally became a Death Eater. He came upon the ultimate piece of information for his master when he was trying to get a teaching job at Hogwarts. He overheard a prophecy about the birth of one who had the power to vanquish the Dark Lord. Albus Dumbledore caught him and threw him out before he heard the rest of it. Apparently when Snape realized the Dark Lord was going after the Potters, he regretted passing on the information and went to Dumbledore for redemption. Dumbledore trusted him, made him the Potions Master at Hogwarts and asked him to be a double agent for the Order of the Phoenix in 1981. Snape was cleared by the council for being a Death Eater because Dumbledore vouched for him and gave evidence that Snape had turned to the good side before Voldemort’s downfall. He has not been accused of Dark activities since then (except by the meddlesome Harry Potter & friends), and his past transgressions are not widely known.

When he suspected Quirrell of being after the Sorcerer’s/Philosopher’s Stone in ’91, he made every effort to stop him. He also grudgingly kept him from killing Harry Potter because he felt he owed James for saving his life (not to mention getting him and his wife killed). Outside of that though, Snape made Harry’s life as unpleasant as he could. The Dark Lord was resurrected in ’95, and Snape was asked to be a spy again. As an accomplished Legilimens and Occlumens, Dumbledore requested that he teach Harry to close his mind from the Dark Lord. Playing the double agent, Snape had 16 years worth of information to give to the Dark Lord, some of which led to the capture and murder of Emmeline Vance. In 1996, Narcissa Malfoy begged Snape to help her son, Draco, complete the assignment the Dark Lord had given him. Snape promised he would under the Unbreakable Vow. He also became the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor that year, a position he had sought after for years. When Draco could not do the job, Snape did it himself—he killed Albus Dumbledore. He fled the school with the other Death Eaters, but not before angrily fending off attacks by a vengeful Harry Potter. Snape uses Legilimency and his knowledge of hexes to stay a step ahead of opponents.

Snape, Tobias Snape, Tobias
Tobias Snape is the Muggle father of Severus Snape, to whom he gave his hooked nose. He married Eileen Prince, a witch, though it was not a happy marriage.
