Slytherin, Salazar Slytherin, Salazar
Salazar Slytherin was one of the founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He, Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw and Helga Hufflepuff were the greatest witches and wizards of the age. They wanted to build a place of magic for children to thrive. Slytherin encouraged students with cunning and great ambition. He also felt strongly that only pure-blood students should attend the school, because he did not trust those who came from Muggle families. There was a rift between he and the other founders, and he left the school. However, Slytherin had built a secret chamber at Hogwarts that could only be opened by his descendants. Inside the chamber was a monstrous basilisk that only Slytherinís heir could control. It was meant to purge the school of Muggle-borns with its deadly stare.
